Nattevandrer

En nattevandrer er et medmenneske som tar barn og ungdom på alvor. Det er en voksen person som tror det er mulig å skape et mer åpent og tryggere samfunn gjennom tilstedeværelse og kontakt.

Nattevandrere befinner seg på steder hvor ungdom ferdes. De er ikke tilstede for å kontrollere, men er lett tilgjengelige og imøtekommende når ungdom tar kontakt. De har god tid til å stoppe, lytte og observere.

Tilstedeværelse, tilgjengelighet, tid og nærhet er nattevandrerens styrke og ressurs.
Nattevandring settes i gang på bakgrunn av et behov i lokalmiljøet. Det kan være knyttet til ulike dager, områder eller spesielle arrangementer som man vet medfører uro.

Nattevandrere er til stede for alle barn og ungdommer, og er en voksen persone som er med på å skape et tryggere lokalsmfunn for alle. Alkohol og vold henger ofte sammen. Nærværet av bevisste og edru voksne skaper et tryggere gatebilde. Statistikk viser en hyppighet av vold på arenaer hvor alkohol utgjør en faktor, helger og ulike arrangementer på små og store steder utgjør slike arenaer.

Nattevandreren er ikke borgervern. Det er klare grenser mellom politiets og nattevandrerens virkefelt.

Night Patrol 

A Night Patrol is a person who takes young people seriously. It's an adult who believes it's possible to create a more open and safe community by  the means of contact and presence.

Night Patrols operate in places where young people spend their time. They are not there to control their surroundings, but are easily accessible and attentive when young people make contact. They are free to stop, listen and observe.

Presence, availability, time and proximity is the strength and resource of the Night Patrol.

Night Patrol is initiated on the basis of a need in the local community. It can be carried out on different days and in different areas, or when a special event takes place, that we know has a potential to cause unrest.

The Night Patrol is there for all young people, and they are adults who are committed to creating a safer community for everyone. Violence is often linked to alcohol, and the presence of responsible and sober adults makes the streets safer. Statistics show a greater frequency of violence in places where alcohol is a basic element in the interaction between people, and it can occur in a big or small venue during the week-end or a special event.

Night Patrol is not law enforcement. There are clear boundaries between the duties of the police and the Night Patrol.
