Recruitment Process Youth Delegates
Step 1: A curriculum vitae and written application

- A letter of recommondation. (See Part 2 of the application form)
Step 2: Personal and Professional Assessment
Phone Interview
Shortlisted applicants are assessed via phone interviews on their personal and professional competencies. The phone interviews are based on a standard questionnaire. Each applicant will be assessed on the degree of relevant experience, work style and capacity to work effectively in teams in demanding surroundings. Reference checks are performed (based on reference forms and letters of recommendation).
Reference checking
We will ask you to forward electronic reference forms to at least 2-3 people, at least one most be from within your National Red Cross or Red Crescent Society. We would appreciate if the references were from present/former employers. The reference form should not be forwarded to family members or relatives. If we have already received letters of recommendation, we will do the reference checking by phone.
When forwarding the reference forms, please ask the referees to return the reference form to: lotte.madsen@redcross.no
The referee is welcome to copy the reference form to you. We should have the reference forms not later than the day before the phone interview. It is a pre-condition to participate in the interview that we have received at least one reference form or letter of recommendation, at least one most be from within your National Red Cross or Red Crescent Society.
WORC: Completion of Self Learning Program about Red Cross
Candidates who have pasted the first step of assessment and who have completed the phone interview are required to complete a comprehensive self learning program 'World of Red Cross and Red Crescent' (WORC) which orients them to the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Applicants are kindly asked to generate a completion certificate.
Step 3: Attending Youth Basic Training Course (YBTC).
Candidates who have completed WORC are invited to participate in the YBTC.
YBTC is an intensive six-day training program that prepares youth to function effectively as youth delegates. Some of the topics on the YBTC cover: Understanding and working effectively with National Societies; Role of a Youth Delegate; International Humanitarian Law and its application; Cross Culture Management and cultural awareness; Information and Communication. Completion of YBTC is compulsory for all Youth Delegates prior to being deployed as a Delegate.
Step 4: Final selection of candidates
The final selection is based on the overall assessment of the candidates and will end up with a final personal interview.
