Regional snapshot

The Americas is a region with unequal distribution of wealth and limited access to basic services for people on low incomes. Violence in the region is tantamount to a serious humanitarian crisis with high rates of homicide, forced recruitment, and genderbased violence. The brutal violence is often carried out by rival criminal groups who operate with impunity.

In Colombia, the FARC-EP announced a partial re-armament. Its neighbour, Venezuala, saw significant migration as political instability left millions of people without food, water or medical care.
